A Performance Study and Application Of Hydrofoil Low Velocity For Microhydro Power Float

             Energy need will increase according to exponential while energy fossil reservist more attenuate so that will affect to energy crisis. The exploitation and utilization of new energy and renewable energy sources in irrigation gutter, river, and current of sea need vertical axis turbine water energy conversion tool such as Darrieus turbine so that necessary done research and development Darrieus to get optimal performance.
The research is focused in turbine performance with research variables are current speed, kind hydrofoil (NACA 0018 airfoil, NACA 0021 airfoil, NACA 0024 airfoil) and turbine solidities (0,30, 0,40 0,50 0,60). The research aims to detect turbine performance based on research variable. Research is done with 3 stages are pre-experiment, modeling and simulation, experiment. Modeling and simulation are done by using GAMBIT and CFD FLUENT then continued by experiment.
The Research result shows that hydrofoil NACA 0024 on solidity 0,60 can produce efficiency higher than NACA 0018 and NACA 0021 airfoil in each solidities 0,30, 0,40, and 0,50. Efficiency result of simulation and each experiments 53,3% and 27,10% for turbine that use airfoil NACA 0024 on solidity 0,60.
